How to read the numbers

  • BSR to reach #N is the overall Books rank of the title that holds position N in the category right now. To take that position you need to outsell that book. A category where #1 sits at BSR 50,000 needs a handful of sales a day; one where #1 sits at BSR 300 needs hundreds.
  • Easiest first sorts by the #1 threshold, highest rank first. Pair it with the keyword checker: a winnable phrase plus an easy category is the combination that gets a new title seen.
  • Amazon lets a KDP book sit in up to three categories, chosen at publish time and changeable later. Thresholds move daily; these are refreshed every two weeks, or sooner on request.
  • 297 categories known, 16 with thresholds, last refreshed Sep 7.
